Hair cuts!!

This time of year we get ready for lots of out door fun! :o) And that means getting dirty. So the boys needed hair cuts!!!
Left to right-
Isaiah (8) holding Pauly (4), Samson (16), Gabriel (17) holding Julius (almost 5)

Julius and Pauly watch the big boys get their heads shaved first. And then they know it's their turn.
Pauly only has one request- don't talk mom- just shave!!
Julius hates when the shaver hits a thick part of hair and makes a loud "buzz". But he no longer fights it. He trusts me! :o)
After hair cuts they are free to play.

Well except Julius, he was having a time out for spitting. We are now sure that he spits on purpose, he laughs too many times when he does it. Right now we are down to 3 spitting episodes a day. :o) We were having spitting episodes all day long! It's slowly going away- but wow! He doesn't want to stop this one easily!

Pauly is not walking as well as Julius. So he has little bumps and bruises from his tumbles.
                                He still works hard at balancing.
I'm so proud of him for not giving up. As much as he prefers sitting. He will walk to toys and walk to play!
                            We LOVE LOVE LOVE these 5 boys!!
                                   We can't wait for three more!!

Our ebay~

We have new items up. More Fenton glass, from our collection. If you know any Fenton collectors this is for a good cause! :o)
Please consider posting our ebay link to your FB or anywhere else you can think of! :o)

                                                   Thank You!
                                                God Bless you!
                                        (((HUGS))) and prayers!
                                                     Joyfully,
                                                        Eliz

Some of us have brown eyes, some of us have an extra chromosome!

In our family everyone looks different! Different skin colors, different abilities, different ages, different eye colors, different heights. We wouldn't have it any other way!

 We celebrate our differences! We celebrate being 55 years old and being 4 years old the same way! With love laughter and joy!

 Those of us who do share something similar, like an extra chromosome, are still very different in lots of ways!
Only one of us with Downs is a woman. Only one of us with Downs is brown. Only one of us with Downs has autism and only one of us with Downs can eat anything he wants in huge amounts and stay naturally thin! (I want that trait!)

           We are as unique as our Creator! Perfectly made in His image!
                        No mistakes here! Don't feel sad or bad for us!
 MA is a little concerned here with Julius' flexibility! (He normally doesn't do this- he wants to escape!) Even though MA is the same age as I am; she is still much more flexible than I am! Both of us being the same age do share arthritis pain, that seems to happen to older people whether they are flexible or not. No difference there.

 Samson loves having his picture taken. He likes the attention. MA thinks that's cute! Not me, I get exasperated with Tom taking the same posed photos over and over! LOL! Julius and Pauly are tired of posing too! ;o)

 Tom can say funny things to make MA and Samson laugh! MA laughs very loud and boisterous. Sometimes we can't hear the TV when she's laughing! Samson laughs very quietly! Julius is fainting from all of this hard work posing! ;o)
Samson has to tilt his head back to see. His line of vision is so that he can't see if he looks straight ahead. If Tom asks him to pose putting his head down, his eyes roll around and he makes a crazy face. I think that makes his face look like we need to call 911!! I think he's cute just as he is, even if his head is tilted back! His personality shines through!
When I see these faces. I Thank God! These are four members of our family that we LOVE so very dearly! They are priceless gifts from God to us!
All of our differences are gifts from Him!

And we dance!!

Would you make a fool of yourself to bring your children home! YUP! And we do too! LOL! After Tom's multiple phone calls to immigration, we recieved THE e-mail answer this morning AND in the mail today was~~~~

       IMMIGRATION I800 APPROVAL for THREE LUV BUGS!!!

And now we DANCE!! LOL!! We are now waiting the next step- papers recieved in our boy's Country, a Country we've grown to LOVE! And then our super hard working attorney will push them foreward!

We had hoped things would move faster. Our babies were sick last month. Last August Moses was very sick. But from the families ahead of us, we see things moving at the same speed for these tiny ones. This makes us sad. There are a few kids in their orphanage that we wish were home right now. :o(
After all of the media attention, we'd hoped they'd get special priority.

Please dance with us as we Praise God!! For three soon to be home boys!

We wait

I had a chuckle today! A dear friend thought that I was the woman above in the pink prayer shawl. Nope!
That woman is cuter than the dickens and it's our MA. :o)

I am the woman in the blue striped shirt on the left, with my glasses shaded on the right side. :o)
                                                  ~~~~*~~~~
So now we wait. Last week our I800 check was cashed ($1,440.00) and Tom has called her about every day since.
He gets the answering machine. :o(
And no phone calls have been returned. :o(
We've heard other precious families have waited up to 4 weeks for some things to be signed after the I800 is approved. So nothing is moving very fast.
The good news- our papers are up to date until August. The bad news, the longer we wait the older they get.
PLUS!!!!
WE MISS OUR BABIES!!! WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
We won't give up until they are HOME!
We are still fundraising! :o)
We have our ebay http://www.ebay.com/sch/earc4650/m.html?item=170818188029&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ALCA%3AUS%3A1123&_trksid=p4340.l2562&afsrc=1
we have our Reeces Rainbow Family support page http://reecesrainbow.org/22087/sponsorarcher-3
and we have our chip in on the side bar! :o)
We are so close to our goal. We still need $5,950.00. However if we can figure out a way to use a donation of frequent flyer miles for Tom (please pray! that we can work it out with Gabe and the boy's tickets) Then we would only need $4,450.00 more!! Woo-Hoo!! :o) (happy dancing here!!)
I had a dear friend say that she couldn't get her credit card accepted for donating so I am going to post our address on the side bar also. So if you would like to help Noah, Moses and Jacob through the mail, please do! Sorry I didn't think of this sooner. At least that way paypal doesn't get 3%. :o)
See these new summer shoes! One is men's size 10 for Gabriel who is 17 and the other is size 3 (infants) for Moses who is 7 years old. They are only 10 years apart in age, but their feet are hugely different sizes. My 8 yr old son wears a children's size 1-1/2 shoe. Even Pauly our youngest at 4 1/2 years old wears a size toddlers 7-1/2 shoe!
love-love-love x 2
 Same pose. (yup, Tom the photo-grapher strikes again!) But different facial expressions! This boy has no words. He is just starting to "yell" loud vocalizations of vowels! OY! All my boys with DS hate consonents and love vowels! Julius can say lots of vowels in a turkey gobble kind of way!! :o) Look at his eyes here and they say "what? what are you doing dad?"
                                 Here his eyes say- "o.k. I'm done."
 Here his eyes are kind of glazing over- like- o.k. dad, I said I'm done!
And here he's considering coming to Dad to get the camera. But he didn't! :o) It's funny because he's always so animated- until Tom takes pictures! LOL! However he IS looking at the camera! Normally he doesn't!
He's not a very affectionate or huggy guy. But he loves to sit near us, touching us. He doesn't purse his lips when he kisses, he just plants his mouth on you! :o) He makes lots of happy laughing giggly faces at us when he's happy!
He's lots of fun to watch as he has learned to manipulate so many electronic toys. He still regresses into his "mess" the house mode. Throwing things off beds, dressers, and tables. Tearing his bed apart and throwing out his mattress, sheets and blankets!
He's very bonded to us and it feels like he's been our little pumpkin forever!!
                               Thank You Lord! for Julius!!
Love-love-love!
Pauly's personality is cuter every day! He is blossoming so much!
                        Sorry these two are blurry! Little boys wiggle!
                                         Yes he needs a haircut!
 I love his tummy! Pants just don't stay up well around it when little legs are short.
 That's SP (our group home gal) in the background watching him! He entertains us all! :o) We just can't get enough of him!
                      Hair never cooperates at nap time when you sweat!
I LOVE to kiss his cheeks and lips and neck and as I do he makes his "kissy lips" to kiss me back. I could just eat him up! He's so sweet! He runs to be with me when I enter the room. His balance is still quite poor, but he knows- stand up and momma can't resist picking you up!
                                    He's perfect in EVERY way!
                                  I thank God for him every day!
                   Should we be having this much fun at our ages? ;o)
A love named Noah
This love bug is Noah. He turns 9 years old in a few weeks. Right now he is the size of his new brother Jacob who is 7 and his brothers Julius & Pauly who are ages 5 and 4 1/2. But even Julius & Pauly wear a larger shoe size- (a 7 1/2) than Noah. He wears a 5 1/2 size shoe.
We picked Noah last when we were choosing our 3 boys. This was because we saw Moses and Jacob were listed on RR. But Noah was not. He had been listed at one time, but he was not there when we were looking. There was also one other boy and 2 girls available in the orphanage with Moses and Jacob. They were older. We decided on Noah, because in his very outdated photo he was smiling. His smile stole my heart.
From the photo we saw that Noah had serious needs besides Down Syndrome. He has signs of fetal alcohol as well. (low set ears, wide set eyes, no lip philtrum) With lots of behaviors from living in an orphanage for many years. Too many years. He hasn't learned any social skills, except those he copied from other children or taught himself. He also functions much lower than Jacob or Moses. He shows signs of autistic behavior.
We had read he was aggressive. I have seen kids with DS who were very aggressive. I volunteered in a children's group home for many years. We see none of this in Noah. We see a boy who needs to be taught that he is LOVED!
He will throw himself around and make repetitive loud noises. Sensory seeking is huge in him.
 Noah loves stuffed toys! I could kick myself, we threw out a bunch of large stuffed toys over the last year that he would have loved!
Our daughter Kitty still has a big stuffed Marie (Dis*ney cat) that she can't wait to give Noah! And we did keep our one large stuffed Winnie the Pooh I think he'll like! We had saved Pooh for Julius & Pauly. But Julius & Pauly aren't interested in toys that don't play music!
Here Tom practices walking with Noah. Noah can't walk either. We hope and pray he will be able to learn to walk.
Here you can see Noah reaching out. This was the first thing I noticed about him. He needs to touch someone or something. His arms just reach and reach and reach, until they touch someone or something. This is a good sign! He also has bunny's ear in his mouth. He "needs" to chew. He chews himself (his wrist) he chews everything he can put in his mouth. And as he chews, he drools huge puddles of drool everywhere. They had a bib on Moses, they should have had one on Noah! :o)
We have some great chewing therapies for Noah. It will be a challenge to get him to choose those over what he chews now. It's going to be a drooly challenge! But we are prepared. Sometimes LOVE is messy!
 Here Noah is again reaching out! He will soon learn if he reaches out he will be held, he will get to sit on a lap! We'll respond to his reaching with great joy! Reaching out to others will be encouraged!
This photo was posted once before. It shows his fingers/hands in the position of his only self abusive habit that concerns us. He pokes his eyes and rolls and stretches his eye lids. He'll do this until his eyes are red. He is hurting himself. We have a few ideas on how to discourage him from doing this. We have a group home woman with self abusive behaviors we've had to discourage over the years. We think we can use some of the ideas we use with her, to help him.
 Here again, hands ready to poke his eyes. Something done out of boredom for too long.
 His eyes are crossed. He also likes to "hold" them crossed.
 We brought this book for them to play with. The pages make crinkly noises and have nice rubbery parts to chew.
 I think he found every chewie and non-chewie part of the book!
 I think he'd eat the book if he could! LOL! Now I hope this chewing means he chews his food!
 Now we know what else he likes that we'll need to stock up on with the stuffed toys!
Because Noah was not sick, Tom got to spend the most time with him.
 This book got a great work out!
Here Noah is making some of his "sounds" like a cry or a high squeel. He can make these noises over and over for a long time. In his crib he will throw his body around as he does this. Here he found a compassionate hand to hold.
 He craves stimulation right now, and he's constantly trying to fill that need. We saw this with Pauly, but not as much since he's younger. We actually see Pauly relaxing from doing alot of this sensory seeking as his needs are getting met now with our LOVE and attention. We hope and pray this happens for Noah too!
It's good to see that Noah can "see" Moses is next to him. Even when Noah is in his own world, he senses when someone is near. Hopefully he can be encouraged to come out of this world!
 Noah likes to be touching someone always, to fill a void that has been there for too many years. I LOVE this about him, he's not closing himself off completely. His heart is good and sweet and precious.
 And even Moses can't resist holding Noah's precious hand.
 I love that in this picture you can see Noah "looking" at Tom. Jacob avoids eye contact, Moses does not avoid eye contact and Noah will give great eye contact on occasion.
 Now Noah says "Enough pictures Dad! Come sit with me, touch me!"
As he starts a big drooly raspberry!!
 Noah does not give many things his attention by looking at them. We aren't sure how he can "see". He is cross eyed with one eye turned in. We pray we can find the right eye Dr to help him.
 Moses gets it! He knows Noah needs him. They will be great brothers!
 Moses can tell, Noah is a sweet soul. And Moses has seen alot of kids here!
Moses may end up being more like a big brother to Noah.
Tom said it was often hard to encourage Noah to sit up. He preferred to lay down.
Noah has so many challenges. He no longer smiles at all, like he did in the picture on our RR page. That breaks my heart.
And yet we have so much hope for what we can do to help Noah be the boy he was meant to be.
We can hardly wait to get started! We only wish we could have brought him home sooner!
