To be a big brother!
And Isaiah wanted to be a BIG brother. :o)
At about age 5 when I was 52 years old he started requesting I give birth again! LOL!!
I told him we could considering adopting if Dad said o.k.!
We searched until God led us to Bu*lg*aria. Land of many handsome young men! And much to Isaiah's delight- little boys there needed homes the most! We decided on TWO little boys, our Julius & Pauly! Isaiah was going to be a big brother! He was so happy!
But it takes a looooooong time to do an International adoption. FINALLY by the time Isaiah was 7 1/2 years old, he was a BIG brother! And he was THRILLED!!
Pauly is the youngest now, they youngest of 17 children. He's our "baby". He's 4. He has autism with his Down Syndrome. He needs extra extra helps. Days for him are a challenge when you need to learn so many new things! (Unlike big brother, Julius, soon to be 5; who thinks/knows that he can do everything himself without any help!! LOL!)
In preparation for 3 boys coming who will be older. (ages 9 (June 3rd) 7 and 7, these boys have slept their entire lives in cribs) We have been re-thinking sleeping arrangements.
The new boys will need to be in cribs/play pens until we can trust them.
So we decided to move Pauly our baby, out of the crib, and put him in a bottom bunk bed with a bed railing, now. Isaiah is thrilled. Isaiah sleeps on the top bunk. Pauly his baby brother sleeps on the bottom bunk. The silly thing about Pauly is, if he can't sleep he shakes his jingly Mickey mouse toy! So he tells us when we need to check on him and re-lay him down! :o) The jingly noise makes him happy so he no longer feels the need to humm and groan loudly for hours. And he's learned what "sh" means, and that sleep time is quiet time!
A few times the kids left Pauly's crib side down at nap, and even tho he is a climber, he never attempted to leave the crib! That gave me the idea that he'd stay in bed. Plus better to get him used to a new bed before the new brothers get here!
Now if only we could get our little monkey Julius, I mean escape artist, to sleep on a bottom bunk! I'm afraid by morning we'd be searching for him! What helps him stay in his playpen is the rule that he can't stand in bed! He can sit, lay or look out on his knees, but no standing or he'll jump out!! LOL!!
I love how how Pauly and Isaiah are bunk mates now. By morning I may find Isaiah in bed with Pauly! Brothers forever!
I can't wait to get to know the next 3 precious brothers!
